This project delves into the sexualisation of the male body, starting from Michelangelo’s Renaissance works to its contemporary representation in gay culture. Michelangelo’s influence, marked by homoerotic undertones, sets the historical foundation. Beyond mere depiction, his art imbue the male body with a distinct sexual purpose.

Extending beyond Michelangelo, the project draws parallels between his idealized male form and its contemporary manifestation in gay culture, highlighting shared experiences of sexualisation. Contrary to prevailing negative notions, the project seeks to redefine sexualisation as a source of empowerment within gay sexual interactions.

The project aims to empower individuals by reframing sexualisation. Simultaneously, it asserts that the empowerment of gay sexual interactions is inherently political, challenging societal norms and narratives surrounding the male body, desire, and sexuality. In essence, this project is a call to arms—a celebration, a challenge, and a provocation demanding a re-evaluation of the dynamics surrounding the male body and its sexualisation.
